The self-help industry hasn’t fully embraced technology yet. Many self-help practitioners don’t have websites to showcase their services and this lack greatly limits their reach.
1) How would you define a life coach’s role in a person’s life?
A life coach is someone who partners w/ a person to help him or her reach any life goal they may have. Coaches help people reach specific and measurable life goals.
2) Who could benefit from a life coach?
Everyone could benefit from coaching because everyone has unattained life goals. Coaching leads to goal attainment, and goal attainment leads to inner peace, healthier interpersonal relationships, increased happiness, a higher salary, and so forth. Anyone having trouble reaching a life goal on their own is an excellent candidate for coaching. Coaches help people discover their purpose in life, aid in singles finding their soul mates, assist w/ weight loss, help people overcome stage fright, etc. Many people have life goals that focus solely on eliminating or modifying unbecoming and often harmful behaviors. Coaching will help a man who wants to stop cheating on his wife. Coaching will help a woman who wants to stop gossiping in the workplace. Coaching will assist teens looking to improve their punctuality so that employment opportunities aren’t jeopardized in the future.
3) Is life coaching affordable to an average income individual?
There is a coach and a coaching package for most everyone. Coaches have realized the need to make their services affordable and currently offer many alternatives to the industry standard of weekly one on one sessions. To reduce client costs, coaches now offer biweekly coaching packages, one session a month coaching packages, email only coaching packages, large group coaching packages, and some coaches even bill clients using sliding scales based on a demonstrated financial need.
4) What do you think is the future of the self-help industry?
The self-help industry hasn’t fully embraced technology yet. Many self-help practitioners don’t have websites to showcase their services and this lack greatly limits their reach. In the future I see the majority of practitioners having access to the Internet, having websites, and engaging with potential clients using social media.
